The work of Belle of Louisville is still continuing but Ohio River Bridges construction had to be postponed. The flood situation has marred the construction activities as both the side of Ohio River has been flooded.
“The winter had been going pretty well and then all of a sudden here at the end, we have really been zapped,” Mindy Peterson, associated with the Ohio River Bridges Project said to wave3.com.
There is winter storm, snow melting; incessant rain and thunder shower has stalled the Ohio River Bridge project for last two weeks.
The authority wanted to air on the side of safety, so they replaced the barges close to shore and secured those.
They have tug boats that are in position that are keeping a close eye on the barges watching for any signs of movements, They just want to make sure they are high-quality and secure and protected, the news releases.
While taking a break on the river for the bridges project isn't perfect, officials and experts expressed hope that they will be able to make up the time and the Downtown Crossing will still be ready for traffic in nine months.
